How to Install Strobe Lights – Instructions from 911 Signal USA

In this article, we will discuss basic steps it takes to install strobe lights quickly, easily, and efficiently. Overall, this type of installation is not very difficult, but it does require a few tools and a high-level of car electronic understand. For this reason, if you are not experienced with car wiring and electronic circuits installing a strobe light kit in your fleet vehicle or POV would probably be better handled by a professional.

Tools Needed for Strobe Light Kit Installation Strobe Tube Kit from 911 Signal USA

  • Socket wrench
  • Pen , pencil, marker (to mark installation location)
  • Saw
  • Wire cutters

Follow these 10 Steps to Install Strobe Lights

Step 1: Disconnect your car’s battery.

Step 2: Mark your installation location.

  • It’s important to choose a location that is at or below the center, horizontal line of your reflector.
  • Make sure there is at least one inch of space between the lens and the strobe light.
  • Do not install the strobe light above the installed manufacturer light.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove reflector assembly bolts.
  • Lift the reflector assembly from the mounting brackets.

Step 3: Remove headlight reflector assembly.

Step 4: Cut a 1-inch hole in headlight housing.

Step 5: Use the thermal disc that came with your strobe light kit and attach it to the strobe light bulbs.

(This can be done by aligning the disc holes with lamp ears and snapping them together.)

Step 6: Insert strobe light assembly into the hole you created in the headlight housing.

  • Secure strobe tube light kit with the hardware included with purchase.
  • Connect 3-socket connector housing to the 3-conductor power cable.
  • Remember red, black, and white wires correspond to negative, positive, and ground.
  • Red wire goes into first socket.
  • Black wire goes into second socket.
  • White wire goes into third socket.
  • Use wire cutters to cut “shield wire” so that it is flush with cable jacket.
  • Connect red pin to first connection.
  • Black pin connects to the second connection.
  • White pin connects to the third connection.

Step 7: Connect the strobe light assembly to the connector housing.

Step 8: Connect 3-conduct power cable to 3-pin power housing.

Step 9: Connect power housing to car battery terminals.

Step 10: Replace the headlight reflector covering.
